County Fair Time with the Church Kids

Authored by Abraham Brewer

I help the assistant pastor at my church run the youth kids group. Depending on the time of year, there is always something fun for us to do. During the gorgeous days of autumn, we have bonfires and visit nursing homes. In the winter time, we do various Christmas projects and practice for the Christmas play. In the spring months, we help the elderly with spring cleaning jobs. In the summer, the kids get really excited because we always go to the county fair. We usually are able to help the county officials bring in a good musical group that the kids will both enjoy and respect. We also set up a couple of booths and take turns manning them. One is to collect donations for homeless shelter, and the other is to sell all kinds of baked goodies to fellow fair-goers. The kids get to meet so many fun and interesting people this way, plus they learn how to give back to the community as well. Since we all take turns watching the booths, everyone gets their fair share of games and rides as well as fellowship with people from all over the surrounding towns. Even though we are tired by the end of the day, we all still look forward to going home and watching our BestChoiceTV. One of the local television channels spends a lot of time there and it's always fun to see if they caught us on film.
